CHANGE IN EXISTING TEACHING TIMETABLE FOR CLASS 1-3, w.e.f 1st April 2015

GOVERNMENT OF THE PUNJAB

SCHOOL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

NOTIFICATION NO. SO(TRG) 2-84/2014

DATED 22-12-2014

Directorate of Staff Development has invited Continuous Professional Development (CPD) framework for primary school teachers (PST's), approved by the Government of the Punjab, to improve the quality of education. DSD always put its utmost efforts for the quality education and takes initiatives for the improvement in existing education system.

2. As per existing paper pattern of PEC, the paper comprises of 70% Objective and 30% subjective. It has been observed that students prefer to attempt the objective portion while the subjective part is being neglected which results in lack of concept clarity and comprehension in English and Urdu Subjects among the students. This practice is harming the efforts to enhance the quality learning and to produce better students.

3. Whereas, if the existing pattern is changed by including the subjective portion in greater percentage than objective part, it may result in failure of more student which may lead to drop out. This thing will effect to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and commitment of School Education Department to achieve 100% enrollment in Government schools as per Chief Minister's Road Map and vision of Govt. of the Punjab.

4. Keeping in view, the results of study conducted by DFID regarding Literacy and Numeracy Drive and after detailed discussion/ consultation a Daily Schedule/ Timetable for Class 1-3 is prepared on the basis of practices being executed in United Kingdom and Singapore. The proposed Timetable for Class 1-3 from next academic calendar w.e.f 1st April 2015 is as follows:
